Wedding Dress Rental vs. Pre-Owned Purchase

If you are considering renting a wedding dress to save money, consider buying a pre-owned wedding dress instead. Buying pre-owned can actually be less expensive than renting (it�s true!) And there are many other benefits as well.

Wedding Dress Rental

Wedding dress rentals typically range from R4500 and up. Gowns are often only delivered 1-3 days before the wedding, and usually must be returned 1 day after. A damage deposit may also be required.

Additionally, wedding dress rental stock is limited, only minimal alterations are allowed, and the gown may have already been worn multiple times.

Buying a Pre-Owned Wedding Dress

Pre-owned wedding dresses start as low as R1500. (In fact, The Wedding Weasel has about 80 gowns currently for sale that are R5500 or less).

If you buy your dress, not only will you have a larger selection of gowns to choose from, you will not have any time restrictions, and can alter it for a perfect fit.

Listings are free until the dress is sold.  The only condition to list your gown on our rails is that the gown must be dry-clean and have a proper wedding dress zip-up bag.

 

Ideal images include pictures of the front, back and detail of your dress on a person or mannequin. Images are posted at 800 pixels wide. For best quality, send images of this width, or larger. Images should be submitted in jpg or gif format. If you do not want your face in your dress pictures, crop the images before sending them.

 

By sending us your amended price, listing description or images, we will send a notification to all our brides on our database and update the website.
